SOUTH YARRA

CLIENT

A couple with accessibility requirements.

BRIEF

To create an accessible, relaxed and comfortable feel for this inner-city home that was previously rarely used, to ensure it felt like a home away from home.

To create a cook’s kitchen, accessible bathrooms and living spaces while still

focussing on traditional detailing on joinery and lighting.

DESIGN

Accessibility requirements were the driving force behind all of the design decisions,

including the addition of a lift, with wheelchair accessible rooms and working spaces.

We drew inspiration from the clients’ expansive country estate, where they had previously spent most of their time.  The colours are a reflection of their country home surrounds and the fabric and wallpaper motives were selected as a reference of their extensive travels and time spent living abroad over the past 40 years.

The result is a modern update without compromising the traditional feel or integrity of the original architectural design.

A NOTE FROM THE CLIENT

“Amy has wonderful, inventive ideas and a great sense of how a house should look and feel.”
